Runaways

12/17/22

This 16-page comic is about Joel and Jeremiah when they were little. The two of them were growing up in a broken home, but would always play around with their imagination and each other to get through it. This time, instead of keeping it inside of a story, Jeremiah takes Joel with him to run away from their home for real.

In the end… they just went home.

Beverly’s Care

11/12/22

Beverly being a very loving mother to Mae <3 (maybe just a little over-bearing). She was very very excited for Mae having her own kids!

Diana is also here (Mae’s other mom), I need to draw them more.

Joel and Jeremiah’s Room

11/4/22

The design for Joel and Jeremiah’s room! It’s rather worn down as their parents were often too overworked and tired to fix it, but Joel and Jeremiah’s bedroom was full of their own life. They covered their water-damaged walls with drawings, both on papers and the walls themselves, and they kept their toys with any cool rock and stick they found and brought in. Their primary form of play was using their imagination through Joel writing stories in his notebooks and the two drawing together. The space underneath their bed had their extra blankets and some snacks hidden underneath. When things got intense in their house that was the place they could hide out and feel safe. Their bed often didn’t have its sheets because their mom would take them to wash but forget to put them back on.

Joel and Jeremiah’s Childhood Home

11/4/22

Map and designs for the house Joel and Jeremiah grew up in! Their house was built right up against a large wood trunk/branch in the Kingdom. Stacy’s flower stand was attached to the house, as well as Pau’s small lumberyard.

The Seiki Kingdom

10/7/22

Concept drawn in June that FINALLY shows what the Seiki Kingdom looks like! The leaves are omitted here just for clarity. The Seiki Kingdom is embedded within a large Maple tree created by the Gods. From the outside, it looks like a normal tree- but inside the kingdom is much MUCH larger, giving it a tardis effect. This effect is due to the Gods creating each kingdom with a protective Aura that keeps both predators and humans away. Houses are built into the bark, or sit on the large flat areas of the tree. The view of the sky is littered with leaves that are always in their vibrant autumn colors.

Stress

9/30/22

(Also drawn back in June.) A short comic exploring Dolly’s abrupt and rough transition into motherhood. The rapid change in her body, her schedule, and her responsibilities put so much pressure on her to the point where she could barely handle it. Accepting help was difficult for her because when she couldn’t do things on her own she felt so guilty and helpless. But things don’t stay this way forever! As she is able to open up more with Anthony’s support their lives begin to get easier.
